Filed Under: Selling Your First Product with Free Traffic

I call this approach the Strategy of Straight Lines, and it works like this:

You need articles (like this one)
You need a landing page to collect names and email addresses
You need an email auto-responder
You need a product (or service) to sell
That’s all there is to it, and the above… outside of the actual product, can be set up and done in 60 MINUTES or less.

Your articles send readers who want to know more to your squeeze page, where you give something away for free (maybe a short audio, or the first chapter of your ebook).

Your email sequence starts a 7-10 day follow up process that “soft sells” your ebook, audio program or coaching process.

I call this the Strategy of Straight Lines, simply because it’s a very linear marketing model, and facilitates a conversation (and connection) between YOU and your ideal audience… in an intimate way (via email).

Every day, you collect more names.

Every day, your email sequence goes out… and every day your relationship, and rapport with your readership grows.

Will some people opt out, or unsubscribe from your sequence?

Absolutely – and this is totally fine, to be expected and impossible to avoid.

Not everyone is your ideal audience, client or customer… and you aren’t everyone’s ideal solution.

The key is to connect with YOUR community, and to create products, services and CONTENT that connects, contributes and demonstrates your passion, expertise and willingness to help.

How do you earn $100 a day with this model?

Very simple. The IDEAL scenario is to have a service related offer, preferably coaching or one on one interaction, that can be priced at a multiple of 3 and a half times what you want your daily earning to be.

If you want to earn $100 a day – I recommend a coaching offer of $347 and if all you need to do is sign up 6 or 7 new clients per month, and you’ve got a rough average of $100 a day, based on a 6 day work week.

Quick TIP: It’s much easier for MOST people, as a rule, to sell 1 or 2 people a week a REAL world service offer (like coaching, consulting or personal service) than it is to sell many people a digital download… especially as you are first getting started, and don’t want to over-complicate your business with affiliates, JV partners and risk.

Why is this model all FREE traffic?

Because article marketing is free. The only cost associated with it is the time it takes you to create the content. Remember, this is the BASIC approach to this model… but as you go and grow, you can really scale this up by adding in a blog to the mix, a few social media properties and then recycling your readership around the web to other places you are publishing content. This turns your readers into evangelists for your business… as they’ll share your content around the web in the places they “live”… which helps spread the word for your blog, your brand, your business and your bank account to boot.

Unique Trick to Stop a Headache Fast

Headaches are caused by many things. One of the most common causes is stress, not just the mental kind of stress, but stress to your body as well. Stress can cause tension in your face, neck, and shoulder muscles. This will often lead to headache. This is commonly known as a tension headache. If you slept wrong, pulled a muscle in your upper body, or you’re dealing with a lot of stress in your life, you’ve probably experienced this before. The unique method below will help get rid of that headache fast!

1. Begin by using your dominant hand’s forefinger and thumb. Locate the area between your forefinger and thumb on your non-dominant hand. This is a very fleshy area. In the junction you will find a firm knot-like tendon. This is a pressure point.

2. Once you’ve located this pressure point, use your dominant hand to firmly massage the area, You don’t want it to be painful, but do maintain firm pressure to the area. This works best if someone else can massage the area for you, but it’s not necessary.

3. Close your eyes and continue to massage the pressure point. You may notice some relief after a few minutes, but continue to rub the area. The headache can come back quickly if you stop too quickly.

4. Continue the massage for approximately fifteen to twenty minutes. This method will stop your headache fast, but if you don’t continue to rub the area, it can come back, Once you’ve finished, the headache should be gone for good. It will at least gone for a long time.

Now that your headache is gone, it;s time to fix the source of stress. The tension will continue to come unless you take measures to relax those muscles. You might try taking a nap, as lack of sleep can sometimes be the cause. A hot shower to relax your neck muscles can help as well. You might prefer trying a heating pad to your shoulders.

Your eyes might be sensitive from the headache. Turning all the lights down or off can sometimes help as well. If you suspect your headache is sinus related, you may have to resort to medication. A decongestant helps to relieve pressure in the sinus cavities. An antihistamine can help with allergy related symptoms.

Identifying the cause of your headache and taking measures to correct the issue will keep the headache from returning. If you haven’t found a source of the headache, but continue to experience it, a trip to the doctor is likely needed. Headaches can be caused by a multitude of things. They are generally not serious. However, on occasion there can be a serious underlying cause for the headache. If you have frequent or very severe headaches or migraines, seek medical attention.

Why Good Copy Cannot Sell a Horrible Product (Most Marketers Don’t Get This!)

This is something that most copywriters and marketers don’t get. People tend to overemphasize the importance of the quality of copywriting or the quality of the traffic as the “be-all, end-all” of internet marketing riches. But if the market doesn’t want what you are selling, then you are toast.

Let me explain: Let’s say I am going to sell a product that’s going to blow up your car when you put it under the hood. Sorry to say but nobody wants to have their car blown up! So it doesn’t matter if the copywriting was written by an A-list copywriter, people aren’t going to buy it.

Whereas if you have an eBook that is going to cure cancer to anyone who uses it–and you have cancer–you’re going to buy that book even if the copy was horrible. It is an answer to an urgent need and the target audience (the cancer survivor) is going to do anything they need to get their hands on that book.

So whenever you create a product and the promotion bombs, ask yourself, “Did people really want this product?” Because a good offer rules over the copywriting and the type of traffic coming to the site. You have to be able to get in touch with your customers to determine what they want–that way the next time you launch your product you’ll get a winner!

How do you do this? Ask them! One of the most important marketing tools you can use to get a pulse of your market is to have them fill out a survey. They will be more than glad to tell you what they are struggling with, what their desires and pains are, and what keeps them up at night.

Making your product match with your customer’s wants and desires is the sure path to a winner. And it almost guarantees that you won’t have to blame the copy or the type of traffic to your site–you’ll be sitting pretty knowing you’re launch was a success.
